Description
I love the the shape of the door. I also like to have the noise reduction of the side screens on long runs but they hide the door a bit. So I made some lowers from plexi-glass. I am sure it has been done before but I had not seen it yet. Opinions please? (I kinda like it). JT

Interesting. I wonder if it could be just one sheet of plexiglass.

Yes, I thought of a simple sheet of plexiglass or Makrolon or something, too.
Someone here suggested earlier to have sidescreens without the window to get Aero-style doors. This could be done with very simple plexiglass pieces, too. I havenīt tried because I would be very concerned in terms of safety. Such a thin and stiff sheet of material close to the neck could in a side impact easily make you lose your head. And beware of plexiglass, that breaks into sharp bits. Use something less brittle like Lexan if you do experiments.

Guys,
Good idea, that might be a nice follow-up project. A one piece screen which follows the doors and has a bit of a drop-off on aft top section. Maybe even in an alloy frame. Agree on the material. After the "shape-experiments" I will move to a lexan type material. btw, what material are the original side screen windows? JT

Whoa, there's a rival after my DIY Crown..... grin2

That's a nice idea. It was me (after an exchange)that began pondering about windowless sidescreens, and if it wasn't so expensive to take a hacksaw to them I'd be on it now. I think I would prefer black mohair rather than body colour, but I would like to retain the A post vertical piece with maybe a small fixed triangular quarterlight. It's astonishing that nobody makes these already. frown2
