Oh Graham. NO! Keep the MX 5. BTW, I had expected to be able to give you the headlights from my Morgan at the Lintridge PCT which usually takes place on the 1st March. I see that is not happening this year. Never mind, I am sure we will meet sometime.

Steve, the MX-5 is about to get rather expensive - hence the change. No point spending a lot of money on it. Besides, the replacement should give me less earache from the passenger seat when we're on the road. I guess Lintridge has moved to later in the year, but I've not had any details. Reminds me, must email Tony Oliver re: Mallory Track Day, offer my services again. I shall be at Curborough for the Sprint Taster Day in March, if that's any good? Cheers,

my bro has recently aquired an s reg zeddy 2.8, well made and reliable, [other than £600 on decent set of rubber + a full service no other expense], not thrilling to ride in though, but usuable in all weathers.

Totally in agreement - great all weather cabrio fun. When new, the Z3 never really found the niche BMW had hoped for it. It was too expensive at MSRP and wasn't as sharp as cars like the Boxster. That initial stigma has made it a great second hand puchase. I also debated with Graham the merit of him selling his MX-5. I owned a series 1 Mazda (back when they only made them in red, Smartie blue and white) and loved it - the early cars were akin to the Lotus Elan (basic, rwd, light and reasonably priced). Graham, I'm sure you'll miss the MX-5 but equally, will enjoy the Z3. ...now bets on how long it takes him to flip it and buy another MX-5?

just remembered, my bro complains about wind noise with top down, he always wears earplugs and rear flexi screens are prone to cracking, but a chap in Coventry replaces while u wait for £100-ish. I found the seats typically German ie wide, flat and firm. Underated compared with Boxster and more sporty than SLK, you could always try this, http://www.zroadster.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17281&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Hehe,
Simon I do like the Mk1 MX-5 - I'll really miss those pop-up headlamps. BUT, I don't see me returning along that route - Morgans & Land Rovers are the only things I've had more than one of. Mind you, a Z3 M Coupe might be a nice replacement for this one sometime in the future. OK, you asked for spec: it's a plain (boring...) 1.9 16v TC. Shouldn't cost much more to run than the 5, quieter on the move and much better quality than the MX-5. Don't need lots of performance, do need something that is reasonable on running costs. Originally looked at a later (2000) model 1.8 (taller geared, better on fuel), but it had been in a shunt. You'll find it in Cheltenham on Autorader web site at present (Blue one within 10 miles of GL51). Didn't really want another black car after the 5, but I'm told the BeeEm is not as hard to keep clean as the Mazda? Cheers,
