I still think the M Coupe Breadvan thingy is/was an awesome bit of kit. The local dentist replaced his with a Gallardo. In some ways I think he lost out...

I do like the M Coupe (on the Z3) - sort of MGB GTV8 on steroids! But, they do have a few problems - the biggest being a diff carrier that wasn't strong enough... Not to say Boxsters don't have any, of course! 'Fraid the Z4, though a better car from driveablility point of view, leaves me cold...

Dave, at that width, on those rims/tyres there's approx 1" between outside of sidewall and wheelarch each side. So overall add two inches for body width...

The Z3 M-Coupe is a brilliant car and very close to the spirit of the E9 M3; however, they can be lethal in inexperienced hands. While some people loved the unforgiving nature, many were traded early on because first owners scared themselves witless.

I almost bought one, untill I read a Belgian racing-driver didn't drive his when wet, too tricky he said,
so I bought a RangeRover

I remember being at an Audi dealership, on a rainy day, when a Estoril Blue Z3 M-Coupe came drifting off the road into the car park, nearly going through the plate glass window of the showroom at the same time!

The owner got out of the car, white as a clean sheet and proceeded to come into the dealership and buy a special ABT TT that the dealership had commissioned. After the deal was done and he was waiting for the paperwork we got chatting; the short version was that he loved the BMW but needed to use it daily and realised he was going to either write it off, or write it off and himself in the process, in bad weather; hence, the change to tuned TT.
