Description
I've been a little bit wary of the Morgan since I bought it so last weekend I took the Aero to a mixed-marque airfield day to get a better feel for the car.

The Carlimits airfield activity days are great: You are first taught how to corner quickly and then several handling circuits are setup throughout the day to test your skills - and you are actively encouraged to go beyond your limit and spin so that they can see where your limits are and teach you to drive better. And of course there's nothing to hit so there isn't the nagging fear that a spin could cost your wallet a lot of £££!

The Morgan was fantastic cloud9 I can't say much more than that!!

Half the fun of the activity day is also that you can try out other cars too - and I'm finally beginning to understand why people love Porsche so much. I tried out a Boxster and despite having a damp track (the Aero was wheel spinning in every gear and the back kept stepping out under acceleration), you could boot the Boxster and it didn't even flinch.

Overall, I had a fantastic day and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for driver training (and at £48 for the whole day, I think it was also pretty good value for money smile )

Great stuff, although I had to look twice at the first picture, looks like you narrowly missed a collision with the plane!! scared

Something I'd like to do soon (the driving course, not the plane thing! grin2).

Was the session at North Weald?

Last summer I got talking to a guy who just come from an airfield track day and it looked like someone had shot blasted the front of his car. scared

Put me off the idea of airfield runs unless I was the only car out.

1560: Lots of wiggly corners - great fun!

asbojohn: only one car is ever allowed out at any one time so there's no chance of crashing into anyone else. The surface isn't the best in the world but it hasn't damaged any of my cars (yet!) so I don't understand how your friend ended up with a damaged car frown

Matt: Personally I'd recommend it. The first instructor training I ever did was on-track where he overestimated my ability and I span and narrowly missed planting the car in a hill (not blaming the instructor BTW - my own fault smile ). Lost a lot of confidence until I did the airfield day.

Frank: perfect wink I just really enjoyed being able to see what the Aero could do, even if I was a lot slower than most of the other cars. The only dampener on the day was when a man at the petrol station asked me if it was a kit car laugh2

Good one laugh2

Selcouth thank you for sharing. Like Asbojohn I have heard a few horror stories of airfield day. In my case the problems usually stem from the quality of the surface and how abrasive it can be on the tyres of the vehicle.

Good to hear you had a better experience with your day. cheers
