Ivo,
It is a very neat job but I wonder if you have a test similar to our MOT in Luxemborg? On cars older than 3 years we are required to have them certified road worthy every year. I would question whether they would fail our cars for a modification such as the one you have made.
regards
Trent

A nice neat solution Ivo, and looks great in the dark. I like the 'cobra' description for the stalk!!

Trent Yes, we do. The first test is after three and a half years from new, and yearly thereafter. What makes you think, it might fail? It is the original Lucas lamp, which is relocated now. I'm confident, that everything will be fine.

Hi Ivo, I don't know in other European countries, but in France it is not legal to do so. BR. Daniel. I have followed the 3rd-brake-light-discussion in the French forum. You probably did as well. Unfortunately, I don't remember all the details and I'm not able to find it back anymore. Are you sure, that it's not legal, or do you only assume it? I mean... That light is found in so many places on the different cars. I admit, that this one is rather unusual, but why should it be illegal? Anyway... my first MOT will be in April 2011, so I'll let you know whether it passed or not. Sunny greetings, Ivo

Sunny greetings, Ivo Hi Ivo, I remember this thread and I looked everywhere to find out complementary data. What I found is typically French. It appears that only 2 stops light are mandatory except if your car has been homologated with a 3rd stop, in which case it must be functional. Moreover the 3rd stop light has to be at least at 90cm from the floor and the location cannot be changed or modified. If the 3rd stop light is not conform to the regulation, the fault has to be corrected and the car has to have a new MOT examination. I asked my Insurer and contrary to what we spoke on this thread he answered me that it is not a reason to have troubles with the insurances. Only modifications that can improve the performance of the car can do that. Anyway your work is superb and your car looks better without the rear periscope. BR. Daniel.
