Sorry to disagree with your normally sensible and often humorous views, Stewart, but these images are not "cool". They may have been so when they were originated decades ago, but either to copy so faithfully by drawing - or by rendering via Photoshop - strikes me as a possible copyright infringement and simply a blunt attempt at commercial gain.
As far as I know, copyright of an image lasts for 70 years beyond the death of the creator, so I guess copyright remains extant for all the originals. Copyright law relating to an amended version of an original image is by no means clear, but it is not a chance I would like to take.
