What photo technique did you use? It makes your car look like a very fine miniature model. camera

It looks a bit like "Toy Mode" filter on a Leica D-Lux Typ109.
I expect lots of other cameras have similar filter effects.

Not just Vladimir's recent photos, but another TM'er has used a similar effect.

I like it! Lovely car! thumbs

Yep, they call it 'Miniature' on Nikons, gives a really good effect for subjects like this.

cunning

It does make it look like a model doesn't it

Excuse my knowledge on photography but what does it actually do to make it look like a miniature?

Looks to me like it defocuses everything except the main subject...can it be that simple?

The effect applies a graduated vignette mask which is then shifted out of focus, leaving the centre clear and sharp.

Why does this make the subject look like a model or miniature? I think it's a perception thing. The effect simulates a picture that's got a very narrow depth of field, which fools you into thinking the picture is a close-up.

Because the subject would normally be too big to see all of it when you were that close, the brain assumes it's a model, and the effect is enhanced when the photo is taken from a high viewpoint as it accentuates the perception of looking down onto a model.

Here's one I did of Conwy Harbour
