Loch Ruthven to fort Augustus

Description

Father’s Day run with my son.

Took a back road from loch Ruthven down to Loch Ness, a dozen incredibly steep switch backs, they were so tight, it only just managed at full lock.....an amazing road, but not for the faint hearted.

Fort Augustus was rammed full of visitors.....but only one morgan.

Returned to Inverness on the eastern side of Loch Ness, highly recommend, much nicer than the busy, drumnadrochit side.

Oh, I didn’t notice I’d also uploaded the picture of the boat, it was sitting a couple miles offshore this week so we nipped our for a closer look😀

The yellow tint film flew off on the way to Tomintoul, by the way.

Must look up that twisty road for September smile

Ft. Augustus looked crammed!

Familiar with a number of roads east of Loch Ness drive

Looks like a really good run out. That area south of Loch Ness, in about Duntelchaig and Ruthven and over by Whitebridge is tremendous.

Here’s the road, ( I may have exaggerated a bit, actually only six switchbacks😀)

The twisty bit is in good enough condition, but I came from the other direction and it’s in a very poor state higher up. The good thing about that though, you can be fairly sure, nobody is coming the other way!

Got it, thanks Ewan.
We used to run up through Farr / Farr Mains (including a couple of nights in a B&B there).
Will drive the B852 later this year (I think I have done it N to S once) and also find your twisty road. smile

Another great selection of shots Ewn - thanks.

The knee is doing really well - so this weekend could well see a tentative first " new knee" run!

Fingers crossed!

Must be 100% safe.
