N/A GDI to Ecoboost project -- some progress

Description
Big empty hole where the n/a engine was. Two motors side by side. Block/mounts/bellhousing bolt pattern all identical. New engine came with slightly deeper sump and horrible, heavy, dual mass flywheel -- that will have to go. So far so good.

Will the Comte de Senneval Champagne Brut be saved until the new engine runs? And then toast successfully and happily!

Excellent first steps.

Will there be a “firing up” party ?

Gosh Peter, you didn't waste any time did you, great stuff, keep those pictures coming. Love your 2 post lift, it must make getting under so much easier.

Why would anyone go to the trouble of doing this transfer, surely its not as though you are replacing a 1960s engine to a modern day.

will this car wheely once this is fitted. thinking

It is roughly the same power and torque as the latest iteration of the V6 Roadster. That engine/gearbox combination is hugely heavier though -- which is why they are all fitted with power steering nowadays. As for wheelies - not with me at the wheel though it will be considerably livelier than the N/A GDI motor. It is also much smoother than the rather rough, buzzy GDI since it benefits from balancer shafts. With oodles of low down torque, one does not have to rev the nuts off it to produce any power so it suits the Morgan and will be much pleasanter to drive.

Why not, if you have the cash and the ability to do it, then that’s all part of the fun

Well done Peter. A great project which will give you much pleasure and a lot of fun when completed. I would not be surprised to hear that Morgan themselves have a +4 running around with this engine fitted. It has to be something they must consider for the higher powered model?
