I did take some other pictures including canoeists that day and they all seemed to be having good sport in the conditions though it can of course get wilder than this. I understand that salmon spawn upriver through here and summer time use of the river is barred to canoeists.

The bridge & the are is well known from my youth in the Cubs & Scouts in Paignton & my kids all went to the Country park as a right of passage when the left the village primary in Bucks to the respective big schools. A lovely area.

A yes , now I recognise it as Holne Bridge.

When I run that section I prefer to carry on paddling past Buckfastleigh and get out at the Salmon Leap Cafe just after the A38 road bridge.

We all avoid the River Dart Country Park car park at all costs due to their exorbitant charges.
