Ecoboost fitting finished

Two litre Ecoboost (250-280 bhp) engine now fitted and plumbed into the Plus 4.
It goes off to have the new ECU fitted and programmed in January.
No major problems but tig welding skills for exhaust fabrication useful.

Congratulations - I remember someone saying it would never fit at the time great work it looks really good .

I hope you have taken notes and photos as the innovation and skill required for that conversion is well worth a book and certainly one I'd buy thumbs.

So what was the main reason for replacing the GDI unit with the Ecoboost unit?

Huge work. Do you need a new homologation or is it street legal and what about MOT ?

Perfectly street legal here. Engine change must be notified to insurers and emissions low enough for the MOT. It will have two tandem EU4 compliant 200 cell cats so should be ok.

"200bhp = Ecoboost"

err actually 250bhp as standard as fitted to a Focus ST with twice the torque of the rather rough n/a GDI unit. In the Morgan smooth torque low down is of more interest than top end power. Having said that we may be looking at more than the standard 250 with our efficient front-mounted intercooler without any hike in turbo boost.
