Avonwood Developments Box

Was delving behind the dash on my 2018 Plus 4. There is a black box fixed to the ash frame the label says Avonwood Developments Ltd.
Does anyone know what this black box does?

It would appear to be an alarm of sorts, if you email these people with the numbers I'm sure they can help Avonwood email address on Maintenance section post.

I heard that the government was getting manufactures to randomly fit secret police GPS tracking devices in sports cars that would trigger automatic fines if the driver exceed the speed limit.

Not the manufacturers, it’s an aftermarket product: it’s the Russians fitting Huawei boxes. Nothing to worry about

Tim,

It isn't a car alarm....
It is some form of tracker, but not the conventional sort. More the sort fitted to delivery vans so the "man" knows where you are, how fast you have been driving, and so on.

From their website....
"Avonwood supplies a range of identification systems based on both active and passive RFID technologies as well as developing a range of niche innovative electronic solutions.
Primarily targeted towards safety, security and asset management applications"

This is a bit of a concern...
https://avonwood.co.uk/eureka-discovery-systems/

I am assuming you are not the first owner. If I were in your shoes I'd want it removed, pronto.
But removing it might cause other issues.
So first call is Avonwood, and if it costs money to have it removed, the dealer, or the previous owner.
Good luck!

Hi Tim,

Have you discovered anything more about your 'Black Box' yet?
