Guernsey Escape

Some photos of our escape to Guernsey. Narrow roads with stone walls made for fun driving, the sun shone and we had a great time including cliff walking & a rib ride to Sark.

There were some very impressive boats both sail and motor around Malcolm.

Great pics John. It was this humble ferry we used last time to visit Sark.

Seems like yesterday but it was 21 years ago.

A lovely trip John with kind weather.

We made a brief passenger stop on the Condor once on the way to Jersey from Weymouth many years ago but it's somewhere else we'll have to explore.

Yes we did Graham. It was so nice to go away for a few days , we even saw France in the distance.

Yes , that is the one that I took when still a geology student. That must have been just over 50 years ago!

We spent a week on Guernsey doing mapping and looking at basement rocks , and then a day on Sark. We rode around the island on bicycles.

I flew from Birmingham to Guernsey on a Vickers Viscount , and I distinctly remember the landing on the island being very bumpy. The pilot explained that the hot air from the many greenhouses caused unpredictable thermals which upset his planned approach. No autopilot in those days.

Sadly most of the greenhouses are abandoned and falling down now.
