Yes, hindsight is a wonderful thing, those slates could put a nasty dent in your P&J, or your head.

My head is my P&J laugh2

Still, in the end it was quite pleasant unscheduled stopover in South Haring. A charming lady in the house opposite provided Mrs. W. and myself with tea and biscuits.

Thanks to the AA, despite the remote location we were on our way in less than 50 minutes from pulling over. Which is probably quicker than I could have done it myself.

And luckily none of the tiles fell off while we were there.

In my youth oldgit I worked for a period demolishing houses to make way for a new expressway north of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. These were the days before anyone dreamed up the term "Occupational Health and Safety". We did not have any hoardings and worked without any safety equipment (I still carry the scars).

One fine day I dislodged a slate on the roof I was working on 4 floors up. I still remember the slithering sound it made as it slipped down the roof followed by a second of silence and a yell from below. I looked over the edge to see what was left of the slate embedded edgewise in the tar of the footpath a mere foot in front of a very irate and probably shocked gentleman.

A good reminder that whilst we all like to complain about "health & safety", it's not all been pointless !!

Ian,

Were you ever tempted to go for the 'spinner' wheel nuts? Do they make it easier etc? I heard that there's less chance of accidentally hitting the wing with the brace when there's wheel spinners. Any thoughts?

If you're in a Morgan without a spare, how do you manage?
