Description
This is my solution to the useless storage under the rear parcel shelf. I went through 3 of the plastic rubbish on my +4 in 2 years of ownership and the tray in the Roadster is cracking after a year (less miles). On the +4 I tried a plywood unit with Aluminium Angle at the edges. It was quite heavy and dimensionally I did not get it right. This time I built a patern in Cardboard and had a sheet metal shop fabricate it in 2mm Aluminium. I have lined it with car acoustic foam (yes you could use neoprene). Very pleased with the result and gives much more usable space. I have just had a Roll Bar fitted so there is a removable flange on each side so it gets support at the sides but can be slid in between the Roll Bar support frame.

An excellent solution thumbs - Well Done that man!

My Roadster tray base was punctured in three places following the Thumping the rear axel gave it on my 5017 mile trip, not just by the Bellhousing.

Stunning. What was the cost?
Do you think it would work on a 97 +4?

It was £120 which is not so cheap, but I figured over the years it will even out because I bet the plastic is not so cheap either and the warrenty does not run for ever.

Mine will get its real test next month on the trip to Le Mans. I took alot of care to make sure it did not reduce any of the clearances to the axle and bell housing but only a fully loaded car and Belgium pave will prove it. cheers

I reckon, for a one off special, that's a very good price Andy.
Maybe we could all send you some dimensions and then take a trip up to Scotland to collect the finished articles... grin2

Very impressive! I would be interested in one if a bulk purchase was negotiated. I need to check the dimension of my 4/4though.
