One thing worth checking if the mechanism is the same as the trads is.
Check that when you pull the lever both sides move the same and to an adequate extent. You can see the slider parts moving as you pull the lever by looking down the attachment hole.
Obviously I don’t know the CX but on the trad, adjustment is through the drivers side seat belt slot. The passenger side can be adjusted via the spare wheel access. Both sides are quite difficult. But once done do improve things.
