Chateau de Puyrigaud, Léoville, near Bordeaux. The Chateau is in part a work in progress. The current owners, Veronique and Philippe Lassalle, with the help of an uncle have restored one entire wing and have commenced work on the second, now separate, building. The place is an absolute delight and I could not speak highly enough of their enthusiastic hospitality. You had better be hungry when you dine. The food is excellent, the servings abundant, the wine superb and the prices moderate. The rooms are decorated to different classical themes often using antique furniture and there is the possibility of self catering for large families or small groups. The area is rich with places to visit and things to do.

We will definitely return.

Just a quick note to say that we have now been back twice to the Chateau and on both occasions have received a warm welcome from Veronique and Philippe. On our latest visit we were able to enjoy a dip in the pool.

Since our last visit they have done a huge amount of work and were readying the second wing of the Chateau for a wedding reception. When last we had seen it it was almost derelict.

It was great to hear that other Morgan owners have visited since our first stay.

If anyone is staying at the Chateau I would recommend a visit to the nearby Domaine des Roussets where Michel Richard will happily show you his cognac distillery and cellars, and offer you a taste of his excellent pineau and cognac.

On our recent visit we left with 4 bottles of XO Cognac and 2 bottles of Pineau Rouge. Luckily for my wallet we did not have space in the Morgan for more smile
