How about the good old A6, Shap to Kendal... used to put fear into the heart of any motorist and trucker travelling to or from Scotland...now a wonderful piece of 'free driving'. Try it next time you're in the vicinity.

Having just visited England could I add the A16 through the Lincolnshire Wolds. Fine rolling countryside, well graded bends and some lovely little towns to visit. We loved Louth - a 'pre-Tesco' market town that retains wonderful local shops. This gives more information: Lincolnshire Wolds Website

Sadly, I understand that they are adding average speed cameras to the Cat and Fiddle. Of course, this is all under the guise of safety.
