Can't wait to try the new seats and pedal arrangement! Unfortunately it was not possible to change the new door hinge arrangement to the series 3 type but the seats and pedals should make up for that.

On the Series 4, the factory have made a number of changes to the car compared to the Series 3. For the taller (or wider!) person, some changes are actually (IMHO) a backward step.

However, I have had the factory make a few changes to suit my particular size.

Firstly, the seats. The base and thigh bolster sits about 2 inches higher on the S4. I have had the seats changed back to exactly how they were on my S3.

The pedals on the S4 are about 1.5 to 2 inches closer to the seat. I have had these changed and moved back closer to the bulkhead.

The doors on the S4 door not open as far as the S3. It is surprising what a difference this makes. The S3 is so much easier to get in and out of compared to the S4 for someone of my size who has had a number of back surgeries. At this time, it doesn't seem an easy job to revert to the S3 hinge arrangement. So, I'm going to see how I get on now with my new seats and extended legroom.

I have also had some modifications to the hard top which visually look a lot better and I anticipate greatly improve both the sound proofing and the water-tightness.

On first impression, I am very impressed with what has been done. I've done 4,000 miles in the car so far in it's original set up so I will need to rack up a few miles to see the benefit of the changes. Miles are a bit low as the car has been at the factory for a couple of weeks doing the changes.

Ian, I was under the impression that the increase in seat height came from a revision (read addition) of the foam used in the seat base and side bolsters on the early S4s; however, this was quickly reverted to the previous version.

Was this not the case with your car?

Also, I keep meaning to ask - did you opt for the auto and if so, how are you finding it?

The side bolsters on mine were the same as the S3 but the seat base was significantly higher.

I am going to make another slight ammendment with the footrest but will do that in the coming weeks, no big rush.

I have the auto. So far I like it. My MPG average has gone up by 2mpg compared to the S3 as well.

I'm taking it to Silverstone at the end of the month so will have some more impressions then.

I look forward to hearing how you find it on track.

Simon, I don't know if they have reverted back or not. I haven't seen any other Series 4 to compare. There was only one othger Aero at the January handover and I didn't look inside it.

I actually prefers the S4 seats, it gives much better thigh support, and raised your legs a couple of inches.

When I sat in an early S4, the top of my head was proud of the windscreen and my legs were touching the bottom of the steering wheels. I can see it benefiting average height drivers but if you were tall, you'd struggle to get comfortable, something that the Aero 8 always did well. That said, it is my understanding that the change to the seats has been reversed for this very reason.
