I'm led to believe that Morgan doesn't make any money on the 'Aero 8', in fact they loose.

So it would make sense to discontinue making it, produce a new vehicle with new costings (that provide a profit for the company)

I imagine an open top aeromax is to be anounced and I think the cost will be more expensive than not just the Aero 8 but dearer than the Aeromax too.

I'm in Worcester visiting a client on Thursday so will stop in at the factory and see if there is any news.

Hi dmat, the idea that morgan loose out on the aero was commonly held on the seies 1 cars, I don't know whether that was true. However I've been told that all cars since then on the aero line turn a profit. MMC is no charity so I dopubt the aero woukld be in production for 8 years at a loss!!

Everyone here agrees that there will be an aeromax II, that much is certain from the rumour mill. The question here is - is there something else as this article suggests, or is the article a classic piece of automotive journalistic hype based on a half heard conversation half a bottle of merlot and an impending copy deadline?

dmat, mr_tony has already touched upon this but I would imagine the person who told you that the Aero 8 was a loss maker, was basing that opinion on how rapidly the company would be able to recoup their R&D costs.

If you look at the Aero 8 logically, there have been three distinct phases of investment: the initial car (S1), US homologation (S2) and the development of the automatic gearbox (S4/Aeromax). Of course there has been constant investment in the car but imho on a much smaller level than at these 3 key stages.

Again imho, the Aero 8 as a loss maker was (is?) a story told by a few individuals who had an axe to grind and used their version of events to support it.

Too true.

The initial investment in the Aero 8 project must have been substantial but this would have been amortised over a period of time and certainly not the first few years of production.

Now, if I could vote for news, it would be a V8 engined classic on a Aero8 / Lifecar style chassis. woohoo

I think you've been led up the garden path. laugh

The least profitable model in the range is the 4/4 Sport. As you go up the range, the margins improve with the AeroMax being the most profitable.

Hey, if you are correct then the Series 4 may become the most exclusive of the Aero range, ahead of the S2 and then the Max!!! party
