Just Getting Started

Well, I'm not getting my Aero 8 after all.
I ordered a new Aero 8 in April 08 for delivery the next autumn. Then I was told (after reading about it in this forum)that there were problems with the US certification and that the manufacture of the car would only take place in september 09 with delivery in november 09. Ok, I waited patiently.
Then yesterday my dealer calls to let me know that Morgan is halting Aero 8 deliveries to the US altogether due to those certification problems. They would replace the Aero 8 with the Super Sport model at a difference of about $50k and another year wait.
At that point I said thank you very much and may I have my deposit back please?
This whole experience has been very disappointing to say the least.
Instead I'm getting a new, loaded Z4 for quick delivery at less than half the price.
Maybe there's a lesson in this...
Thank you for letting me vent.

Very sorry situation, lesson is that with pitifully small resources Morgan manage much but US bureaucracy is a match for even the EU, Z4 is a pretty car and a fine car but it just is not a Morgan.

Thats terrible news Michel frown

Have you thought about a used car? I was aware, a while ago, of at least one S2 with demo miles for sale (it was the black one for reference, still available though 5775 miles) would still get you in an Aero, might even be able to do a part-ex deal on a new Aero SS for a years time wink

Anyhow, in the meantime enjoy the Z4 (hope its a Z4M)

Agreed.

What a shame.

The Z4 is a nice car; however, what Morgans have that normal cars lack is soul. I know this sounds like pouring salt on an open wound but as someone who has had other sports cars, I can honestly say that if you want something special, I would try to negotiate a deal on an Aero 8 in the USA.

If you need assistance finding one, let us know and I'm sure we could do a little digging for you.

The SuperSports is destined for the USA, so you could always trade in once this has been confirmed.

As said above, if I can be of any help in tracking cars down in the USA, please let me know.

As you will see, Randy found a car 'in-country' and seems to be enjoying it immensely: -

So perhaps this is an option?

michel, greetings from kentucky here in the states.

There are some used aeros here in the states, some of which I cataloged by dealer and should still be listed here in the forum, although I cannot recall what the post was.Largest dealers here in states are in CA, MI, Fl with the most cars for sale.Morgans official website lists all their dealers worldwide with links to those dealers here in the states inclusive of inventory/pictures
and pricing.Dennis Glavis of Morgan West could be a good resource if you are still interested in an aero.As a former BMW z8 owner I will tell you the aero is worth the time and effort to run down, a totally unique driving experience.I am presently considering Morgan's new model so my aero might become available in the future.

Hope this helps,

Randy
