I took a decision recently, righty or wrongly, to take the folder that contained by handbook/service book out of the filing cabinet and keep it in the car incase there was need for it at the roadside somewhere. My recollection is that I put it under the driver's seat.

Now I need it and it isn't there. I'm convinced now that somehow, at sometime, it has been "removed" from my car. Why anybody else would want it , or even think of looking there is beyond me.

The upshot is - I now have no book. What are the chances of getting a replacement from the factory?

Talk to Uncle Melvyn if you can't get one from the factory Roger...

Are you sure you didn't put it in the tool tray ??
I did and forgot for a few years when the new owner found it

I know it is not ideal - but if you cannot find one, I could send you mine to borrow & copy. It will have my garage stamps in - but maybe better than nothing.

Have you been right under the seats Roger? Sometimes things slide right to the back.

Thanks Guys as usual.

Graham - hadn't thought of trying Uncle M

John S - good thought thanks but no tool tray in my semi-poverty model!

Phil - that's a really kind offer, thank you. Hoping at the moments it's just I've lost my marbles rather than my service book and that I won't need to take you up on it. It is a combined handbook & service book isn't it?

Dave - thanks. I'd better have another really good look under that seat tomorrow!

Mine didn't come with a handbook (only thing missing - had all receipts etc.) so I spoke to my local dealer who got a '76 4/4 handbook from the factory for not a lot of money as I recall.

I'm sure if you've used a dealer they can re-stamp the book.

They do appear on eBay from time to time (I brought one) to leave in the tool box as it has some generally useful info in it that may be useful one day when out and about.

Thanks Richard. If they're not much money I might get two. One for reference in the car and the stamped one in the house.
