I like the colour, needs black wheels; Iove the Aeromax wings and Lancia lights love but don't at all like the V/SS boot on it. I think with a plain/Aero boot and those wings it's a great 'hommage' to the convertible 'Max I would love. The SS has more other features to mark it out.

Would love to know how much it would cost innocent

I'm not 100% sure about this. hide

After seeing the aeromax I thought the same finish would improve the tail end of the aero but I think the big v of the boot leaves it a little flat and needing a little extra to break up the surface.

Maybe we will see a Series 5 aero after all thinking

Have they not run out of engines to make aero's after the run of Super Sports?

I think it's the difference between a talented professional designer (Matt Humphries)- the AeroMax is after all an iconic design, and an enthusiastic amateur - the powder blue car.

Personally, I don't think the Aero SuperSport is as lasting or pure a design statement as the AeroMax, basically as it is a variation on a theme and thus, it is hard to better the original design of the 'Max - just perfect proportions and detailing imho.

But Supersport versus powder blue car is a no-brainer for me, in actual fact I prefer the shape of the normal Aero 8 to this hacked about one. It obviously pleases some people though, and that's what makes life interesting. tumbleweed

I agree that it is not as balanced as an original Aero, the curves of the Aero mean that a downward flowing boot is a better match to my eyes. It continues the visual flow of the car from the side view.

The more round Lancia rear lamp assembly means it has a flat boot top and curved rear. On the Max this naturally flows from the roof design and maintains the visual line.

On this car I feel it makes the backend looks a little like an AC Cobra from the side view which is not as well integrated. The flow comes from the running boards as much as the cockpit/deck line and this is where it is slightly less resolved for me personally. Then again I would never claim my personal taste is better than whoever was bold enough to do this work.

I do think they have done a remarkable job in terms of the quality involved. I applaud their desire to make this one-off after all Morgan is about the hand-built aspect of a car. I like the idea that Morgan have re-bodied the Aero chassis like Hooper used to do for Bentley all those years ago. It is nicer to be aligned with a skill like that than the niche busting weird world of current mass market brands.

I have seen a lot worse home-grown projects in other brands. The Rolls-Royce estates from Dubai that were sold a few years back and even some of Porsches own 80's flat nose cars stand out as bad examples for me.

The question is what comes next from the chief pencil sharpener ?

The only thing Matt did tell me at the centenary do was that we'd have to wait and see. Thats not to say that they aren't working on something - I'm sure they will be, but I guess it's just a case of selling and producing one model at a time for the company.

I did plead (pretty please) for a GT3 race car version limited edition, and for a full convertible where the roof folds completely flush (as per the S1).

What I do know is that the engine supply booked with BMW covers only the supersports. After that it will be a different engine, so the question is - will it be the twin turbo V8 from the M6? I told matt that is what I would want. He just said I was clearly mental...

When I looked at the pictures it reminded me of a Stutz Blackhawk circa 1973-1976. While the back works great on the fastback aeromax and targa ss it only makes me realize how cool and great looking series 1 & 2 cars were. If Morgan goes this route, I am thinking values go up earlier series cars.

I applaud the owner of the 'Gulf Blue' Aero 8 for having the conviction to alter his Morgan to suit his taste. We could spend hours debating his design; however, if it is perfect to his eyes, that is good enough for me. I believe there is a clear distinction between a production car (which should appeal to the masses and therefore necessitates debate) and a one off, bespoke, creation. wine

I personally - and with obvious bias - view the Aeromax as a very special design. Perhaps it is the novelty of a fixed head Morgan? Whatever the reason, the design works for me from every angle, (front on is my least favourite - as it is with all Aeros), side being my favourite. There are few cars that I could stare at for hours, the Aeromax is one of them.

The SuperSports does not have that same lure for me. Is it a nice car? Absolutely! Does it enchant me like the Aeromax? No. I view it as a progression of the Aero 8 design; while this isn't a negative, perhaps this is the reason I view it as being less special than the Aeromax?
