hi,

my Max has 500km now, would like to do 500 more on tuesday,
but: a few questions, worries (coolingwater)

wipers: only the central one does function, but I set it so it wipes in front of me, badly gripping teeth...
cooling-water: goes steady at.....95°c,but isn't that a little high?????
wining noice, throttle-linked: noice comes out of the vent-openings, but stands loose of the ventilator
wining noice when ventilator between 2/5and4/5 of max speed: can-bus to be changed???
windows: don't seem to function 100% correctly, delay when opening door, when battery has gone flat: how to reset???
exhaust: a lot of "dust" is ejected, like if the engine is set too rich???
steering: damn heavy, o, forgot: it's a morgan
climate-control: uncontrolable, cools or heats like 5min after you changed the settings, so on a cold day: no prob, on a sunny day: always swapping between vent ON and OFF

any comment????

(further more: I enjoy it, had tears in my eyes when I puted it back in its cave....)

Can comment in on three:

temperature: 95c is fine and anywhere between 90c and 100c is fine. Apparentley can run up to 120c but I can confirm that's when the Red light comes on.

Window reset - there is an instruction somewhere on here which you can search for smile from memory it's something like take down completely then put window up until it stops and hold the switch on up for 5 seconds but please check.

Heater controls - that's normal with my car anyway. I thought the new ones were a bit netter but with mine it's basically on or off with a little bit of in between control.

I'm sure others will offer further advice and DaveW will recommend neoprene. For the wipers laugh

Re the sterring that's an interesting one. My S1 still has the hydraulic assistance that I plan to have fixed when it eventually fails. Reason being that I find the steering perfectly weighted.

At the Centenary I had the opportunity of driving an Aeromax for about 200 miles. Plenty to eulogise about (particularly noise from sidepipes) but I was very disappointed with the steering. I also found it heavy with a rubbery feel, to the point I had sore wrists after driving it. I mentioned this to the owner who said it was no different to his previous S4. Can't believe this is purely down to change in assistance so what else has changed in the steering?

Cheers

well, if tomorow the weather is OK, then I'll finaly can do a "long run" with the Max,
if steering still is found "heavy", I'll look for different settings,

if the steering-assistance is from MINI, then they'll probably are fooled by bigger wheels/wider tyres

The air con on my Aeromax works OK but isn t great. The cooling power is limited and the air distribution is quite poor. There should be a few other air vents in the car. This is especially noticable in winter as it will get chilly on your lap close to the door. The footwell is also quite cool in winter.

The fan is noisy and this can be improved. Apparently the dealer can update some bit of software that reduces the vibration. Quite boring noise I must say.

The windows need to be reset after the battery has been shut, and as said, put the ignition on, unwid the windown down, stay with the swithc open for five seconds and that should be OK

I had some noise coming from the engine bay for a while, and that was traced down to some issue with a leak in the power steering system.

The weakest point of the car, as you pointed out, is the lack of feeling in the steering. It doesn t center well at speed and lack some feel. It is somehow vaguish which is a real shame. I have the car being maintain so far and ask for some alteration to the geometry set up to see if it can be somehow better.

The engine runs normally at 95° and can go up to 120°. Passed that point, the amount of power is autoically reduced till the engine cools down. I had this during a very spirited drive in the Alps in september. Whilst te external temperature was at 20° max, the beautiful drive to la route de la Bonette is so exciting that I got the car driven hard for 30 milles or so.

Lovely to put the car sideways out of every single hairpin of one of the best drive on Earth. I am very familiar with that road which I drove up and down hundreds of time in many different cars. Nevertheless a few milles from the pass, the engine management decided it was time to rest a bit and the power was greaty reduced for five minutes or so

I believe most of the questions have been answered but: -

Here is a link to the fan noise on the Aeromax

and Here is the post for the window reset on the Aero 8 and Aeromax

The wipers need to be adjusted - this is down to their angle of 'attack'. My middle one worked but the other two used to clear on the upstroke and then smear on the down... very useful! wink

Temperature, again as the others have said, no issue with 95 - mine sits at that temp and doesn't seem to move much either way.
