Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip to the North for the 1st time and would much appreciate your advice and guidance on where to stay on the way up. I've got 8 days in September and am thinking of going all the way to JOG but depends on how it goes.
I have a 1987 +8 with a rack, advice on best luggage for the trip for 2 people? As I don't have any yet.
Thanks

Luggage tip, swmbo will want the biggest case going, just stuff yours in a soft bag and stow behind the drivers seat.

We bit the bullet and bought hills alive luggage to go behind the seats. Expensive but they work well.

We stopped at the Gilpin Hotel in Windermere on our way up to Scotland recently and we were very pleased with the accommodation. We booked through Booking.com and the rate was very competitive. HTH.

MissW is a big fan of Linthwaite House in the lakes. We had a good stay at the Lovatt, Loch Ness in 2014. MissW is just back and stayed at a couple of others. I'll dig them out. One West Coast and the other near Balmoral which looks fantastic.

Kilcamb Lodge, Strontian was the West Coast stop. Corran ferry off the A82.
Struan Hall, Aboyne near Balmoral. Decent village pub for evening meal.

And if you are going to do anywhere, do the Applecross peninsula and the Bealach na Ba (Pass of Cattle). Personally I prefer the clockwise direction, but either way is great.
