Hi all, Sad news... Beautiful weather this afternoon, sunshine, so I taught to take the Moggie to get to work. Shouldn't have done that. Going from a roundabout, the rear end slipped and hit the "border stone" (sorry for that expression, don't know how it's called) with the rear wheel first, and then the front wheel, and then with the rear wheel again. Or vice versa... don't remember... it happened so fast No damage to the body, but at least the front wheel alignment is gone. The rear end seams OK, the rims too. At least at the first look. All happened at a very moderate speed, so I'm confident that there's very little damage. The car drives, and I'm bringing it to the dealer. I'll keep you informed. Sunny greetings, Ivo

Oh Ivo, my condolence to you, but even MORE to your lovely Mog! I hope things will develop more "harmless" than you are afraid they will..

Ivo, These things are always upsetting. Lets hope any damage is quickly fixed. I know its no consolation but the main thing is that you walked away unharmed and are still able to post on TM.

Sorry to hear of this Ivo. I hope, like the rest, that the damage is minor and your car will be back in full fettle soon.
Cheers!

Sorry to hear your news - You are Ok which is the most important. Mog has been given a shake up but is always fixable. Hopefully not too costly.

Thank you all for your kind words. The second look revealed slight damages on both rims, driver's side (continental driver's side, that is ) . The rear one less than the front, so the first impact must have been at the front. And the front tire makes a little bubble. As far as it goes for the front end, I don't know, because I had to leave before the car had been driven into the shop. Tomorrow I'll know more. Sunny greetings from "slippery road country" Luxembourg Ivo

Ivo
Sorry to hear of your incident, it is always so much worse in a rare and special car. It was also a sunny day here and I took my car out, slightly damp road surfaces gave a little twitching, but sometimes you've just got to get out there and get a Morgan grin. Hope its just shaken and not stirred.

Sorry to read this Ivo. It may have put the rims slightly out of alignment with the centres. The stainless steel used on the rims seems 'soft' to me. I found a tiny dent on the rim edge of my rear nearside soon after purchase. It's a perfect part circle - like a woodruff key but tiny. I couldn't fathom how this had happened for a few days.... Suddenly it hit me....... Somebody.... and definitely not me......... has caught the edge of the rim with the hammer when removing or tightening the centre nut. The tiny dent exactly matches the hammer in the toolkit. And that's why I prefer the special hex tool..... With a giant bar.

Dear Ivo, I can only echo Simon and Asbo's comments. These things are upsetting to a level that those who are not car enthusiasts simply don't understand. Hope that your pride and joy is back the way that you want as soon as possible. Let's hope that it's soon looking again. Kind Regards, Robert

Sorry to read this Ivo. It may have put the rims slightly out of alignment with the centres. (...) I drove the car from where it happened to my work and from there to the dealer. Around 25 km. It behaved quite well, No shake no rattle, just the steering felt a bit differently.

Sorry to hear this Ivo. But, as others have said, you are OK. The car can always be repaired... Hope it doesn't prove too costly.
Regards,

No shake no rattle, just the steering felt a bit differently. Glad you are fine and the Mog only has minor damage. If the steering feels off, I would agree that the impact had thrown the alignment out. With some luck nothing is bent in the steering assembly and it will simply be a case of realignment.

Hi all So, now I know: Three rims, one tire, one stub axle. The rest seems OK but a more thorough look must be taken at the front suspension, while they're on it, just to make sure. The good news... my all risk (full kasko) insurance will cover everything. I must say, that I'm very happy to have a dealer just a few miles from me. Even more, because he has very good mechanics and his customer service that considerably improved with the new people he hired lately. My baby is in good hands and I'm looking forward to get it back in two or three weeks. Sunny greetings, Ivo

Hi Ivo, Sorry to learn about this accident, but I waited for final diagnostic. I was anxious about the frame or even the crossmember. It is better like that. I hope your beautiful car will be on the road very soon. Keep us informed. Best regards. Daniel.

Chanteclair

Thank you guys, Well... I'm a very positive man, so my mood did not suffer too much. Of course I'm very sad that it happened, and even more not having him around. Because sometimes I went down, just to have a look at him. (This I can't tell everybody, but I guess you all understand ) The good thing about the situation is, that I can park my daily driver in the garage now, so don't have to scratch windows in the morning. No good weather to take the Moggie out anyway Sunny greetings from frosty Luxembourg, Ivo

No news - good news? Not necessarily in my case... My beauty is still not repaired. It looks like they have not received the parts yet. How long does it usually take to get those? Sunny greetings, Ivo
