I have a special reg on my Aeromax, bought directly from the DVLA, and am glad I did so. I wouldn't buy one from a reseller as they seem to ask crazy money; however, from the DVLA can be quite cost effective and a nice way to personalise your car.

If you can find a plate you like, I'd do it; however, I wouldn't just stick a random plate on the car to hide the age - Morgans do that well without the need of a reg.

True, the Aero-type just look like kit cars doh

At least according to random members of the public.

"Did it take long to build, mate?"

"Nice! Is it a kit car?"

Call Us Naff if you like but our choice was to go with a Mog at the basic DVLA price

We went for AF08 MOG
A (Ann) F (Frank) 08 (our lucky number without the 0) MOG

It's the nearest we will ever bother to get to a personalised number. coffee

One was my nephew (but he doesn't know anything about cars) - at least he didn't ask whether it was a kit car, as he had with the 4/4 doh.
The other was serving on a cash desk at a Shell station... grin2

As you'll see from my TalkMorgan name I went for a MOG number plate, as have many Mog owners. Can't really justify why, just thought it was a bit of fun.

Many years ago I bought a personal number plate for my tin top, my initials + 3, it would now be silly money, probably now go for a 5 digit amount, so could have been a good investment? It does make it easy to remember my number though, especially as the years take their toll of the brain cells!

My advice is - if you fancy it, go for it.

I quite like 'clever' plates and/or would have loved something like B88BBB or SS55SSS for obvious reasons.

I also like plates that have letters but look like Roman numerals XMC1X or even MOG 1V for example.

The Aero plate I have came from a 'eureka' moment when a young lad utterred those memorable words "ooh Aero!" as I drove past. I logged onto DVLA that afternoon and £250 later OO0 4ERO Was mine grin2

As for everyday cars I am lucky my surname (ABBOSH) is both rare and 'possible' thus my wifes car carries R88OSH (I know, close, but no banana) and my car A88OSH (was at DVLA auction after I requested it, I bid a closed bid of £4000, and got it for £350 laugh2 )
