I do remember many years ago having a bit of trouble starting a very highly tuned Dolomite Sprint I was using for weekend racing. I was using a can of WD-40 sprayed directly into the mesh filters on the DCOEs. I got away with it the first 20+ times then I ended up with a bill for some asbestos gloves and a healthy respect for backfires. The compression ratio was a little higher than standard. When someone explains this to you the first time you think "yeah - and ?" then it provides a live demonstration and gets your full attention. Anyone willing to use this needs a camera nearby to capture it for youtube or possibly the darwin awards. It stung, lots.
