I had my Aero detailed recently, second time I’ve used Paul & Darren (last time on my S1). The results they get are fantastic, small write up here.

Aero Detail

Just a heads if anyone was thinking of having done locally, I would highly recommend them, top guys. thumbs

Thanks for the link. My OH was tempted to get my Aero done but I wasn't sure whether it was worth it or not. Given that ours is the same colour as yours with about the same miles...I think I'm persuaded now wink

I see they use a machine polisher.

Does anyone know how many time the surface can be polished/t-cut before the paint starts to wear away? Does anyone use wax instead of polish?

Not sure - but I know a lot of detailers have a special machine where they can test the thickness of the paint before they start work so that they know what they are working with.

I was actually reading a detailers blog the other day and he said that a lot of cars have quite a bit of variance on the thickness of the paint across the bodywork (http://www.shineondetail.com/news/the-devil-is-in-the-detail-for-this-raging-bull )

Looks superb Matt. thumbs

Having a car professionally detailed is a great (if expensive scared) experience; however, the downside is that I didn't want to drive my car after it was done because I didn't want to ruin how clean it was (not my Morgan I'll hasten to add!)

Thanks for the comments. cheers

I was told they would only aggressively machine polish a car once, this more so on my Series 1, I guess this given the age of paint!? The trick is taking off just enough to remove swirls and scratches, but not so much you leave the paint vulnerable!

They spent along time mapping the paint depth prior to polishing, & as Selcouth mentioned above, the variations can be very surprising, even more so in cars such as ours! One down side, they pointed out a few imperfections which I had not, & would never have noticed!!! doh

For me you really notice the difference during & after cleaning the car, its just seems so much easier, & with a very quick polish with a detailing spray, she comes up looking like the day they left.

It is a lot of cash, but well worth it.

PS. Simon – Indirectly you led me to these guys, you may remember posting a while ago about a Talkmorgan photo shoot with Flow Images in Bristol, this never went ahead, but whilst talking with them about it, they recommended JDs services!
