I would use DAB for my local BBC Radio Gloucestershire - but they have no facilities in that part of the spectrum yet.

my brother still has my granfather's old 1940/50's Bush radio with a dimly illuminated dial that promises radio from Warsaw and Moscow, if you tune to Berlin and listen very carefully I swear you can hear ' " chairmany calling... chairmany calling, Lord Haw Haw here " ' listening

Hehe,
I have my folks old Redifusion long, medium and vhf waveband valve radio - I have been meaning to restore for many years, but things like Morgans got in the way! grin2
But, with all the other radio kit in my 'office' - properly termed: shack smile - I am running out of space...

Cheers,

For a collection of people who like to assume the mantle of the cast of grumpy old men you seem very up to date in all things geek.

I was looking into using a pure back end system with no head unit. If you install an AMP and speakers and then leave just an MP3 player unit connector out of site. Many of the newer MP3 players have radio (apparently VHF 8^) and other stuff on board, you could even use a TomTom unit with the new ones. When you leave the car it comes out with you and leaves nothing.

Thanks for the info Graham. Always Spot On.

Regarding above, a Sun Dial would do for me if only the B****ing Sun would come out laugh2

Geek? grin2

No. The latest stereo (see, that dates me) for vehicles I wouldn't have a clue about. However, 15-1/2 years in the Merchant Navy as a Radio Officer and holding an Amateur Radio license for over 30 years, I do know just a little about what makes radios tick laugh2

Cheers,

A few DAB radios are available in France but the sellers in shop are not interested in selling them just telling "it does not work already" !!!!
