A while ago we were rightly praising 'our brave boys'

I found the attached video on USA Military.com website which shows how easily a group of armed insurgents in Iraq were despatched by using this device called 'Hellfire' scared hide

I cant believe that they could not see their adversary

Military.com entertainment.

Not too sure that I consider seeing people killed entertainment.

Politics aside, I have to agree that Entertainment seemed an inappropriate word to use to describe the site given the topic.

However, I imagine recruitment isn't what it once was for the armed forces and therefore, they are using all manner of method in an attempt to attract young people.

Some of you may be aware that the British Army started to use a video game to appeal to youngsters. There is a quick synopsis of the launch here .

"Research conducted for the British Army recently found that 68 percent of 17- to 21-year-olds had no career path in mind. The campaign, consisting of four television commercials, will be targeted at that group, each ad highlighting a particular area of Army expertise, including teamwork, decision making, leadership, and fitness and mental sharpness."

Sorry for the Topic. I never noticed that tab title.
I suppose that the next tab along (warriors etc) showing many photos of personal vehicles could be more interesting. (have a look). notworthy

Frank, not need to apologise, unless you built that site. wink

We're all adults here and I do believe that we are capable of discussing contentious topics in a respectful manner.

One of the excellent facets of this site. cheers

Frank, I have seen a few similar videos and I can not help but remember the scene in Patriot Games [if I recall the correct title of the film] where they are watching a surgical strike on a camp in the desert. Killing remotely takes on a surreal quality and whether justified or not, I hope those involved, in present and future, never become desensitised to the action they are committing. [I hope what I am saying makes sense]

I know just what you mean, Trevor. The day someone invented the Bow and Arrow and the Slingshot meant that the adversary's did not have to be at arms length and look each other in the eye. viking

Now it would seem, based on watching the film 'Syriana' last night on ITV1, it was possible for a group of USA Agents to take out a convoy in the desert ( and George Clooney ) using something like Hellfire with the use of a Computer Joystick while viewing through a Satellite camera.

The missile started its journey from 4 miles above from somewhere. The Military version of the 'Hit Man'. As we would say 'That's not Cricket' hide
