Sadly, I remember it all too well and those striped Mechanics Overalls . Also Muffin? the Mule.
It was May 1952, my father put himself in 'hock' to buy our first ever 'Pilot' brand TV ready to watch the 2nd June Coronation of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

As we all know Muffin the Mule became illegal following this event due to complaints by the Animal Protection League.

My dad was mostly out taking photos at this time. This one was Kai Tak Honk Kong airport when nothing around it was more than two stories high !



He had a really nice camera.



I feel sorry for the kids coming up now with the crazy stuff on TV, ritalin has a strong future based on this !

worked in Hong Kong a lot in the 80s and early 90s, so have 'fond' memories of Kai Tak- not least coming in on a 747 at an altitude when I was level with people's washing lines!


The new airport may be a lot plusher and the rail infrastructure from Lantau is a work of engineering excellence but it just doesn't have the same buzz
