What are the effects of an overfilled gas tank in a M3W? Does it behave as if the battery is dead? I would say I have an electrical problem or a tired battery (2013, because the starter just clicks and the gauges bounce around, but I had just filled the fuel tank, maybe a tad too much. I got it started via a bump start and barely made it home. The engine quit running about 3 times in 4-5 miles but started again with the momentum. The trickle charger indicates the battery is very low. (red light) Any help is appreciated. LarryS

Sounds like not charging whilst driving! when its charged by battery charger start car cycle through clock/milage then you get to voltage must be over 13 volts to 14.6 with engine running! if not usually regulator stuffed!!!!!

With an overfilled tank it will either not start (leave it for 30 mins and try again) or start and after a few seconds run really rough or cut out. In this case if you can restart it should clear after a few minutes.

The check engine light may come on but should clear after a while or after several normal starts.

Thanks, I think you're on to something. When I got the Morgan home, I put it on the trickle charger. Normally, 5-10 minutes to being fully charged; green light. This time, 3 hours, charger glows red, telling me the battery will not take a charge. (cooked)The beat goes on! LarryS

Don't you just love springtime - when the birds are singing and all our M3W battery's can do is click the starter.
Seems this time of year is bringing our electrical gremlins to life and waking them up from hibernation.

Thanks. This gremlin has me perplexed. This morning the trickle charger shows the green light, fully charged, but the only thing I hear with the key turned on is the fuel pump. No lights, gauges or starter. I was pretty sure it was the battery, but I guess not. Not good at figuring out electrical stuff! LarryS

I'm with you with the electrical stuff brother. Did you push the reset button next to the bottom side of the battery? On my car it's on the right side.

I see you are in PA. I would take your M3W to Morgan Spares in Copake, NY. Also known as Morgan Motors of New England. I would call them first about your issues, their tech number is (518) 329-3877 I hope this helps.

This is the inertial cut off switch and kills power only to the fuel pump. The starter, lights etc all still work but it won't start.

It could be a slightly poor battery or earth connection so try loosening, wiggling and retightening the connections to the battery and the chassis post.

However, if the battery is more than 2-3 years old it may be time for a new one.

Timothy: Update; turned out to be a bad battery after all which is confusing to me because my ohmmeter read 12-15 volts, charger read full charge and all the lights were bright. I guess that's why I'm not a tech. LarryS
