Can you get it up on a ramp to do it?

Most definitely worth doing - the sump on these engines is so vulnerable. Great bit of kit.

Lazy solution. My dealer will do it it together with the yearly service (bah... this year only 2.300 km done).

I wonder if a sump guard attached to engine is a potential different problem waiting to happen? I went for mountings on the frame instead.

For sure the frame mountings are safer, and if you succeed not to reduce too much the clearance keeping "strong" enough the sump (am I wrong or there were some pics somewhere?) in my opinion you went for the best solution.

I have read the various reports on here since the fitting of these sump guard's with much interest but haven't commented because a lot have had them fitted with their hard earned cash. However after fitting very many sump guards to escorts mini's imp's etc i have to say this is meerly a skid plate at best with a very suspect fitting attachement and as Shooter suggests could cause more problems than it tries to fix. A guard should always be fitted to the frame but another issue on the aero based cars you are also covering the only place underneath the car that gets any air so even more heat build up in the engine bay.This is just an observation we all have a choice.

I think it's important to know what to expect.
In Italy and Switzerland we do not have those fancy/horrible speed bumps you have in UK, so the risk is anyhow lower.
I mounted it mainly because of the center lower dual-leaf driveway gate locking system that already twice obliged me to change the sump since it has the same height of the sump oil drain plug.

Talking to the Wolf man at Blenhiem, a Plus 4 owner came up asking if they made one for his car.

He had just returned from the Dordogne saying his Morgan had become stranded on a huge traffic hump.
