That's interesting as we've been considering a Mini Clubman from the 2010-2014 era.
Happy birthday Graham. wine

As you'll be buying a petrol and I doubt any more poke than a Cooper you should be fine. I liked my Clubman, but not the local stealer nor the diesel engine's weak point(s)...

Ta. Another glass of red has vanished. Hic. grin2

+1 on the runflats, be prepared to change to proper tyres.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned depreciation, very high on the diesels.
Still a girlie car IMHO regardless of model.

[pedant mode] And they are MINIs, not the original Austin/Morris/BL Mini[/pedant mode]

Quite funny how they still use the name Mini.

The latest incarnations I refer to them as BIGGIES!

Agree the R56 2008-2014 is the sweet spot - quality is Ok and still drive really well - "grown up" and very competent but still something is lacking. the lastest versions 2014> are simply ugly in view - not a wheel at each corner anymore and those rear lights - too big. Remind me of a middle aged man in shell suit when they have the "works" body-styling too.

This is my R56 Cooper S.

On the other hand for sheer fun you can't beat a proper old school BL mini.

This is my 1980 in the family from new 24K mini 1000.

I've also had my fair share of Minis [not MINIS note, thanks Graham] but you wouldn't want to be involved in an accident in one. It was probably only luck that prevented my lack of skill when I was young, in not having that accident, although that does rather make some assumptions about my current skill level!
