Cheers, G Come on Gerwyn, I've been soooooo good resisting teasing posts Of course the real reason was it was such fun, great venue, great hotel and food, fantastic racing, good people (mostly) and what a place to watch the racing at the Arbor! You should consider coming along one day Gerwyn

You should consider coming along one day Gerwyn Andy, I am going to rise above all this not least because you are right- the one thing I have decided is that I need to make up for my deprivation! So, will definitely go to the Classic year after next and will stay at the 'Arbor' I've also instigated short -term measures because last week I talked to the Arbor and have got a reservation for next year's 24 Heures. OK I know the 24 has some disadvantages these days but it has still got to be better than staying at home doing a Leasehold Valuation Tribunal( which is what I spent the latter part of last week doing! ) I am now a 'rant-free zone' ( well for a couple of days anyway) Cheers, G

Kin, when do we get to see more Cobra photos? And, is it simply the photos or is it purple? yes Simon, I'm afraid the colour is rather gay and I am ashamed to say I am no longer in a sidepipes squadron neither Not had a chance to wash the car, but I'll post up pics sent from its previous owner, i think I've probably got one of the very best cobra around apart from the colour, the elderly couple have to sell due to heart condition, the car was set up as GT as they regularly drive to Europe, it has specially built hood...the whole hood can be removed altogether. The bespoke interior was crafted by someone who works for Bentley It even has matching luggage top quality leather were used and marine grade alcantera The cob does look much better in the fresh than the photos, I'll see how I get on with it, and may decide on factory built cobra with LS engine later. The cob is very fast and it sounded Awwwwesome

Wow - looks amazing, and bet it sounds good too. As said - I'm sure sidepipes are not out of the question for a reasonable price Thanks guys I am sure you're all pretending to like it, LOL. Someone has already called me Austin Powers today LOl. Sidepipes is no good to me, as it would be too loud, been in a couple of others, my ears were ringing after a few minutes. Loving it so far, would seriously consider a factory built one next year with LS3 Chevy engine....

I think it's genuinely cool. But then I'm hardly the one to ask in matters of car colour taste given my own odd choices..

Kin, I'm saying this as a huge fan of Cobs( real and good rep) - and even more Ace Bristols but I really do think the colour is a secondary consideration. If you have the build quality, sound and the pull of that engine, then in my book, it's all there Congrats. G PS Mind you, in a perfect world, have a look at this ( and no, I didn't enquire about the price!): http://www.fiskens.com/pages/shop/item_detail.aspx?pid=432

There were some stunning early ACs at LMC - while I love the Cobra, the early ACs (without the extended wheel arches) before Shelby's intervention have my vote. G, the AC Bristol you linked to is about perfect imho Simon, Couldn't agree more. I've only driven the Bristol-engined Ace once. That was a very long time ago and funnily enough because the guy from whom my father bought our house had one in the garage. It really was a beautifully- balanced car. I've also had a couple of experiences with the Ford Zephyr -engined incarnation but it didn't quite match up to the Bristol engine. regards, G PS Mind you, I wouldn't say no to an Allard J2 if the car fairy offered me one!! http://www.transportspecs.com/images/decades/allard_j2.jpg

Hi Gerwyn, I have always been a fan of Cobra since the early 80s, but somehow I've always ended up with some other cars, partly because of my percieved build quality of a kit car in my mind(probably true at the time ) Thanks to Simon who recently started a classic car thread, i started to look at alternative to quench my desire for a half decent toy in my garage again. I looked at a number of +8s initially, but they were all short door model, and then I remember Cobra...did fair amount of searches on Cobra replicas and to cut a long story short....I ended up with GD MK3. Gardner Douglas is considered to be one of the best

Congrats Kin, love Cobra-replicars and had an LR Roadsters Ram Cobra some years ago which I enjoyed - side-pipes of course, though ear-plugs were de rigeur! The Ram chassis was designed by Dr Adrian Reynard, with Jaguar suspension components and a tuned Ford Small Block (we had a Ford Dealership at the time so no non-authentic Chevy engines around!). Hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoyed ours Kin. Brian P.S. Much as the quality looks excellent, not sure I could live with that interior though.

Have you looked at the Allard J2 Replica Denis Glavis markets Gerwyn? Roger Allard (no relationship to Sydney) has done a proper job, according to Denis and it is a fitting replica of the originals. No idea on price, but I guess it won't be cheap! B

( Cue 'poor academic' sob story ) I've not seen one of Roger Allard's cars- the J2X MKII -in the metal but the one person I know who has tells me it's really well finished and specc'd. it certainly looks the part: http://www.allardj2x.com/ Don't know if you've seen this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAI0IafpAsYCheers, G
