Programme on tv last night, part of a series, covering just about every aspect of life at this famous place.

What's not, perhaps, known is that there are quite a few holiday cottages from small to large available to rent whilst the queen is not in residence. Some are right next to the castle.

So if you need a base whilst touring that part of the world look at the Balmoral website. Costs are about the same as other equivalent holiday properties elsewhere.

You can drive all over the estate but away from the castle the roads are... bb bu m p y.

Bragging rights are priceless

Please note I have no connection with the royal family.

Regards to all

Thanks we watched it last night it has something special to me and my family as going deeply into my family tree Dads family predate the clan system . The tribe of Mar and their land was between the Don and the Dee much of what the queen owns today. I would love to walk on the land they have and see the sights they saw . So we may go, funny swmbo had been saying at b/fast do I fancy a trip up to Scotland .

I looked it up but all the cottages are for groups, only June and me . banghead

Lovely to see the mogs parked up by the castle, was special permission required? Looks like normal punters are collected from a carpark by bus?

Hi, spoke to them only this morning for my usual cottage (but also with fishing which narrows available dates down a bit). Just me and my wife

My contact is Diane Eddy

Rob - the Scottish centre of the MSCC (Jockmog) were spending a weekend in the area and we were granted permission to park in front of the castle, provided each car had a drip tray (as if a Morgan would leak oil!)
Don.
