I called in to see Julian to sort out some paperwork on my SS and as usual had a walk round the workshop. Sorry to see your p&j there Frank, still undergoing some repairs it seems. I hope you get it back again very soon. The main interest in the workshop was SGT's new the Teal Roadster Sport - looks very smart I must say. Whilst I do like the new round reflectors, I am not sure about the Sabrina'd reversing and fog light - however, I know such things a very much a matter of personal taste. Anyway, the main interest was in the showroom where there is an AeroMax for sale with a very nice spec for £110k - yes, that's right £110k! Check the SGT Website as this is the cheapest I have seen an AeroMax for some time. I'm sure at this price it should not hang around long, particularly as it is so well specced?!?

I agree this should move quicky... I like the colour.
I seem to recall this was up for sale at rtcc for a while.... Or one in exactly the same colour?

I understand owner wants to buy a Cooper Monaco so the Max reluctantly has to go... P.S. Where's mr_tony as this looks right up his street?

I am lurking! tempted, but timing is bad as in process of house move I really love the way they drive having had the pleasure of driving one at goodwood this year. There is however the small matter of upgrading Liz to a new car this year so I guess the Aeromax will have to remain a dream for now... Still, the good news is I have cleared an Eva Gt pending we are both happy having seen it for real...

think it's RTCC, as it is no longer listed over there (and normaly they do keep'm "SoLD" on the site)
couldn't sell at that price neither (picked mine up from my detailer, stunning once more) (liked the SLR he had there too, far less was I impressed by the view out of the FORD GT he had in too, my left I could only look at the windscreen-pillar) (JC will never admit but you can't see where you're going when entering a curve)

Yes, Only discovered by investigating a fuse blowing problem. Fortunately it appears to be only internal bodywork damage caused when the Gearbox Mounting split away and the whole gear mechanism lifted up. We have been driving around and to Buxton and back not realising anything was wrong.

I considered buying this Aeromax when it was at RTCC and decided not to purely on the basis of interior colour which as Simon says is an accquired taste.
It seems that only the chaps from Maranello can master the tan leather interior!

However in all seriousness it's probaly not for me at the moment. Coincidentally we had an early Bentley GT Coupe in a very similar combination - Jack Barclay were delighted to sell it new but complained bitterly about colour when trying to sell it back! Speak soon.

perhaps its just a combination of factors... colour, other cars available under 130 and the supersports new at 130 as well as the end of summer in sight. I'm sure Julian will not be pricing it a penny lower han he needs. to sell the car. besides, like most collectable cars the spyder will in the long run command a premium over the coupe ..

Given the weather they have in Moscow this summer (38 degrees through most of the last 2 months) I'm sure a convertible would be fabulous. Apart from the air quality.. In the winter a range rover is the only sensible option though. Or a tank. Of course though I was joking - clearly the 'max will be a collectable car for the long term This one just seems to be suffering from a range of issues subduing it's price a little.

Pretty sure I know who owns (owned?) that car and if I'm right would be well cared for.
exterior Looks good in the flesh also and whilst I did look at interior I can't remember too much?

Thanks Russell - much better, I just thought you weren't doing what looks like a very nice car justice! Good luck with finding a suitable new owner. Brian

Sorry Brian, caused by flashing in my showroom....so to speak!
Anyway, new 'photos taken outside in natural light (not that there's much of that up here today!) so looking a bit more natural now I think?
Russell, on a different note, have you spoken to Stuart at Ginetta recently? regards, G

Of course though I was joking - clearly the 'max will be a collectable car for the long term This one just seems to be suffering from a range of issues subduing it's price a little. Amusing, I flew back from Moscow yesterday (holiday - I haven't somehow found myself a murky new line of business... unfortunately!) and it was absolutely boiling. As an aside, I also went to Siberia and the Urals and outside of Moscow there is little point in owning anything but a 4x4 (if you can afford it). A new UAZ starts at about £10k and they're cooler than a Defender - expensive options though, apparently...

The Austrian Aeromax, which was once for sale for 229.000 euro's is back on the market (no added mileage) for 198.000 (incl. taxes) a few years ago the did anti-freez in their wine, guess the guy selling (errr, NOT selling) emptied some of those bottles

Aeromax prices are dropping. There has been one advertised in the Sunday Times the last 3 weeks or so. This week the price dropped below the £100K mark That is the car on SOR at SGT? If I am correct that is Richard Hammonds car and has had a colourful history. It has always been priced low and I believe deservedly so. I have not seen another advertised under the initial purchase price. A friend is looking to purchase a fine example and he hasn't been successful thus far. Lucky bugger!!!

I am also aware of someone looking for an Aeromax (RHD) and I have actively spoken with him about the market - so am relatively knowledgeable about the cars up for sale at the moment. Personally, I would say that the RH car is an anomaly. Setting aside the economic climate and time of year, I would also suggest that the owners vocal (he wrote about his accident in the Aeromax in Top Gear) and his financial position have influenced the asking price. Reference the prang, my understanding is that the car has been repaired and the front resprayed and that there is no reason to hold this against the car; however, public perception seems to have influenced the potential customers willingness to purchase it. The other factor with the RH car is that the interior leather and trim aren't going to appeal to a wide audience. A re trim is £5,000 and therefore, I believe this is being taken into account with the asking price. As it stands, if anyone is interested in an Aeromax and cannot pay the price of the other cars (all above original MSRP), surely this car has to be a good buy? Now to counter that - I also believe that someone willing to spend £100,000 is willing to spend more for the right colour and option combination. The chap I am aware of is looking at the Aeromax as a 'keeper' and therefore wants to buy the best example he can (colour combination and options) and is willing to pay the price and wait for the right car. As it stands, there are currently 4 RHD cars on the market: - The SGT - Richard Hammond - Reg-58 Aeromax - £105,995.00 http://www.sgt.co.uk/used_detail.asp?id=35085&type=Morgan&model=AeromaxThe one at RPM Morgan - Aeromax 49 - 7,500 miles - £118,500.00 http://www.rpm-morgan.co.uk/product.php?view=detail&item=30Dick Lovett Prestige - Reg-59 Aeromax 10 - 3,600 miles - £119,990.00 http://www.dicklovett.co.uk/Dealers/Spec...9-16195541.htmlAnd lastly, a private sale - March 2010 Reg - 5080-miles - £140,000.00 The 3 cars at dealers are all varying shades of dark gunmetal grey (two with red/berry leather) and the RH car with dark brown distressed leather. The private sale is a dark blue, almost black exterior with red leather.

Whilst I generally prefer a manual to an auto on a fun car, a Max would have to be Auto for me.

A very good point Andy, it's not as though most AeroMax owners are going to be tracking their cars with any degree of commitment and the auto suits the Max's GT status imho.

A very fair point Andy. I was attempting to remain impartial but I would agree with your sentiment that the sport-auto suits the character of the Aeromax perfectly.

Rather have a manual box. But, I don't have that kind of money to spend (not on a car that won't fit in the garage anyway )... Cheers,

Well One man's "abomination" is another man's "well It's not too bad"
Ticks many of my boxes:- auto, low-mileage, attractive and non-controversial colour, still has some warranty left. I could live with the interior.
(Couldn't live with the damage it would do to our savings or the damage my wife would do to me though).

Nothing wrong with saddle brown interior with the right paintwork, but Silver cars look better (IMO) with darkish interiors.

Speaking to one of the Dealers today who has sold a few AeroMax's, he opined that the current relatively low prices were temporary and that the prices would harden considerably next Spring, as both the weather and the economy improve. Seems like anyone in the market for an AeroMax should consider buying one of the current crop for sale, providing of course you agree with his view of the market?

Have to say I have yet to meet a dealer who has told me that now is the wrong time to buy!

the dark-blue car on sale in Belgium, which sold after 3 weeks, was bought by a friend of the seller, the guy simply saw the car while visiting for dinner, and called the next day: gotthahaveit rumours say the car was initially build for M.Humphries father in Brussels there's a very light blue one for sale at a LOW price €150K

Seems that Hamster's car has moved from Hairpin to Mole Valley, even though Hairpin are showing it as sold! It is also at a new more realistic price, but is still a manual...

Saw Hammonds car at Mole Valley last week when collecting my plus4. Priced at under 100k and with 3500 miles. Has a celebrity plaque under the bonnet. The dark brown leather didn't look too bad but the light colour wood trim was not to my taste........each to their own!

In my opinion he did himself no favours writing about his accidents in the car in Top Gear. Perhaps being owned by a pseudo celeb would hold a value to some, however not to I. Even less so when he has documented in a publication about his careless driving and the damage caused.

Trevor - agree wholeheartedly. Whenever I'm scouting for a used car, the seller is always very keen to let me take a test drive, but I always say, 'No - you drive' That way you can soon tell what sort of abuse has been meted out.
I noted that Mick Jagger's old yellow 1968 Plus 4 was up for grabs recently. That bloke is amazing IMO, but it doesn't make his car worth any more to me.

Did RH buy an AeroSS replacing his 'max? Part-exchanged against a Lambo, I'm told! Someone has sent me this Daily Mail LINK on the sale of Hammond's car up for sale at Mole Valley. It's about par for the course for this paper; methinks.

a "brooker" wants to see mine But then you won't have a Mog at all Stephen - wat's up? that's whats stopping me, the car isn't for sale, the broker has a client looking for an Aeromax, first see what the guy wants to pay, if the offer is "too good" then I'll only have the.......pedal-car won't get to St-Tropez then (unless as a passenger)

Didn't you hear, he's talking about going down to 1-car... a McLaren I wouldn't sell the Max to go buy the Mclrn but a good deal is hard to resist, won't be being another "toy-car" this year, got 1M in june, that will satisfy "urgent driving-fun needs"

Didn't you hear, he's talking about going down to 1-car... a McLaren Due to tax/insurance-fees 1 better car is the better option But I've got the complete pricelist and I find it a bit immoral to spend so much on.....a car So I started looking for real estate, but that seems to have gone crazy, Only opposit to the US-A: higher and higher i'll stick to my mountainbike for a while, they cost a grand a year to keep them maintained AND updated
