I chose what I thought was a reputable transport company for my 2017 M3W but it arrived yesterday damaged. It's messed up on both sides just forward of the mufflers, where the lower body meets the floorpan. I'm sure they will only approve of a half assed repair but a new body would be the only way to go.

Any idea what a replacement tub, no boot or bonnet, would go for from Morgan?

How difficult is it to swap one out?

Thanks!

JP

Do not know the cost (£2K??) but that is one big job to replace the tub.

Yes, I already have a claim with them and I'm just looking at options. I'd be willing to replace the tub myself if they pay for the replacement.

I am sorry to hear that your M3W ownerdhip has started in such a terrible manner. I hope you can claim from the carrier.

I had the body of my 2013 M3W replaced last year by Williams Automobiles after some fine examples of British Low Life did not see me and ran straight into the back of my car.
The price of the new body excluding the boot lid (which was supplied seperately) but including the bonnet was £8,380.22, with the total cost of all parts needed being £9,657.31.
In addition to ths the cost of labour to rebuild the car was £5,650.00.
The total cost, after VAT was added, came to £18,368.79.

Fortunately, in my case, this was paid for in total by the third party's insurance.
I hope you get a favourable response from the carrier.

If I were your dealer or Morgan, I would not allow such an undertaking to be done by the customer. This opinion has no reflection on your abilities to do a competent job or not.

To do this requires basically everything to be removed from the frame out, wiring would be the main culprit.

This in my opinion would be grounds for not honoring the warranty of any electrical issue from that point forward.

Just saying I would highly doubt they would allow this to happen.

Good luck with your claim.

Can you post pictures of the damage? Just because it's an aluminum body does not mean it cannot be repaired. I understand that it's not as new in your mind, but that's how it works.

I was a service manager years ago at a Chevy/Pontiac dealership and we had damage on deliveries now and again. Even if the customer knew about the damage, it was always a repair to fix, not a new body.

I was thinking the same: compensation equivalent to the body replacement cost BY MORGAN may soothe a few dents. Also some skilled metalbasher might make the damage nigh invisible... Good luck in any case!

Will post a few photos when I figure out how to reduce their size on my stupid iPad.

Thanks.
