Having bought my low mileage roadster just before last Christmas, I was plagued by a list of problems all subscribed to the vehicles under use---only 3750 miles in 4 years!
The most recent problem included the front brakes suddenly seezing which meant the vehicle was returned on a low loader to my London address where it was again collected on another low loader by the Morgan agent (in Exeter!!)for inspection and repair under the 6 month warrenty.
This repair included new discs/ new wheel bearings etc.

Mercifully the vehicle has run trouble free since, I am pleased to say EXCEPT that, when the car warms up and the brakes are applied there is a noticable juddering from the front discs. Any ideas why this should be? Would this be crossing etc. confused2Its also not a comfortable feeling for me controlling the vehicle.

Hi David,
I have had two cases of judder from the brakes on a car, once when I warped disks during a track day, once when I left disk to corrode during a winter stop (probably road salt). But your disks are new? Check if something came loose, calliper, too much play on wheel bearings? Strange that it only appears when warm. Something with the pads? Sorry, not much help, but get it checked! Brakes is not something you want to take chances with. Good luck JJW

Discs should be heat treated during production and then faced. Sometimes this isn't 'enough' and sustained heating will create enough displacement to create slight run out and judder. There is also a technical issue which I don't recall in detail but it involves gassing of the pads under duress which causes deposits into the surface of the discs which can't be removed. Play in the bearings and play in the lower kingpin bushes will also have an effect. It may be worth fitting brake reaction bars if not already fitted. They may help.
As an aside, my Roadster has Greenstuff discs and pads, and brake reaction bars - none were my doing by the way. I'm now just sensing a slight judder under hard braking, and I'm hoping that this is due to kingpin wear. Later this year I'll be changing the pins, and fitting Peter Mulberry's steering bearings. I'm hoping that this doesn't increase the judder. Peter has had some problems with aftermarket discs causing judder by the way.

Dave,
Your comments about EBC and judder mirror almost exactly the problems I had ( except I was the numpty who fitted the EBC pads and discs, so I can't blame a PO!)

The Greenstuff pads have been excellent and I still use them but the EBC discs were pants. I just could not stop them juddering, even after having them looked a by a really good brake guy, so, in the end, I binned them. This meant that at first I then had to go back to OEM discs because not many disc types will fit the two pot AP Lockheeds on my 4/4. After a lot of fussing, I've now got a set of modified AP Racing discs fitted and these seem really good.

Funnily enough, when I 'phoned up PM to get some info about his brake set up ( Hi-Specs) the guy I talked to( it wasn't Peter himself) made the same point- that EBC weren't that good and that I would be just as well served fitting OEM discs even if I went with Peter's Hi-Spec set up

I'd be interested to know what after -market disc options there are apart from EBC. Brembo certainly don't have anything which will fit
regards,
G

PS EBC discs are b*ggers for corrosion!

Spoke to EBC agent last weekend... EBC riecently changed the material specification of their disks to improve compatability and effectiveness after user feedback.

I have not currently got a set, but thought this was promicing information to have given I'd heard similar stories.

Might be worth a call to substatiate this further with EBC directly.

Hi All,
On my Plus 8, I have Peter Mulberry 300mm vented discs with original 4 pots calipers, but enlarged with PM spacers, and it works very well (up to now laugh ).
