Absolutely right. I use NFU for the same reason. It's all very well buying insurance on price, but if you ever need to make a claim then it's quality of service that suddenly becomes the important thing. I've only had cause to use them on a couple of occasions, and both times they paid up immediately and without question.

The cheap insurance companies are able to drive their premiums down because their claims handling policies are extremely rigorous - they do everything they can to avoid paying.

As always, you pays your money and you takes your choice.

We have used NFU for many years as we always looked at extent of cover, service and price as a total package. We had 3 cars and all our properties covered with them so they had a fair bit of money off us over the years. The last couple of years or so the prices each year climbed significantly to the extent I couldn't ignore shopping around even though we had no claims history. The cars have gone through G&W - last to go next February on renewal and the last of the properties have now gone through a broker connected to a Landlords Association of which we are members. As it's a very large members policy we have managed to not only considerably increase the cover, reduced excess etc but also halved the premiums which is saving us a lot of money.

London Morgan may be able to help, they "manage" cars for non resident Morgan Owners.

Just thought I'd get a quote from the NFU before renewing and they gave very good cover and figure all included instead of adding on extras so I've changed to them.

I just got my renewal for my vintage Sunbeam from Peter S Taylor in Hove. They have insured it for nearly 30 years. Premium is £108 & its been around that price for 10 years or more. Gott & Wyne handle my Morgan

Thats why I have a Plus4 I think a roadster over here is around the €800 mark!!! Then there is road tax --€720 on the plus4 and a whopping €2250 on a roadster. As everyone knows this is an environmental tax -- nothing whatever to do with fleecing the motorist!!!!!!

This might be a bit late in the day, but I found your comments on Insurers very helpful. I had a renewal coming up from Footman James for £388 which I considered OTT for my Plus 4 in sleepy New Forest. I tried Gott and Wynn and was very impressed with their Morgan knowledge - turns out Mr Wynn is a Morgan owner. I was given a quote of £196.00 including IPT, admin, legal expenses, EU travel, unlimited windscreen cover ( attractive given cost of a heated windscreen ) and agreed value. Interestingly they have removed the concept of a "hood warranty" which I have never heard of - but it means whenever you leave the Morgan unattended you must put the hood up. Obviously a bit of a faff with the Morgan - but a loophole an insurer would pounce on to get out of paying up!

Thanks to all of you who contributed and therefore helped me with my decision

Sadly there is no benefit any longer in staying put with an insurer.

I have "saved" over £600 this year on our three cars. AND better cover!!

The Insurance industry has IMO shot itself in both feet by creating this need to move every year.

I've just changed the Fusion insurance over to the '99 Z3. There is nearly 11 months to run on the policy, but with the £25 fee for changing I'm still getting £7.83 in refund (would have been in excess of £30 refunded). I have a feeling that even after renegotiating with the broker at renewal time I might have paid far too much for a small low powered Ford!
