Finding that my mind was getting "foggy" late in each day, and my short term memory wasnt good and was getting worse, I decided I needed some mental "press-ups". Mens sana etc - or something like that. So I enrolled at the OU to study degree level pure maths.

I've just caught myself looking at some text book pages on co-ordinate geometry of all things and saying to myself "that looks interesting" ooo

I used to get excited about cars. At one time I got excited about women. And boats. What is happening to me??

If they still offer the course at the OU have a look at images and information. I found it fascinating.

Did my Psychology degree with the OU. Certainly keeps the mind active. With psychology the subjects covered were both fascinating and revealing. In the final year I covered dementia and undertook a research project on the efficacy of brain training in older people (among many other topics).

It is written in your destiny... louvres will be part of your life!

I understand what you mean about mental agility. I support a multi-national group of young scientists, all have a PhD, but now work in that grey zone 'twixt science and business. I find keeping up with their energy, enthusiasm and zest for life helps me stay alert and positive. It is one of the reasons why I am still working...I'd miss the "buzz".
