This smells of the Boeing vs Bombardier situation — does anyone believe that the US manufacturers weren’t cheating the emisions tests as well — so — find an importer- VW - and hammer them to enhance the American manufacturer sales. All very convenient,!! I am NOT condoning cheating or the lying about the information, but I am sure that if it was Chevy or Ford there would have a small slap on the wrist and no huge witch hunt, legal action etc.

Richard found it Sat's paper try and e-mail it to you but its a brand new printer and it has a mind of its own .Oh by the way those Vimto bonbons if you type it in they pop up and you can get them sent to your door a packet or a huge jar full . Still smell like cheap perfume to me , must be the memories of kissing some girls neck when I was a lad on a sat night out, if she was lucky . innocent

Tried to e-mail it but the ?@{W_+* ?>@:PKG thing is playing up gave future son in law a shout and he could not get it to work . A waste of time swearing at it wonder if the snow has got into the box down the road and messed up the wires . Still try later .

Howard, your fellow troll here. The latest tests with the monkeys showed that their latest engine (s) were worse than a 10 year old Ford re emmisions. They then refused to pay the whole amount of money for the tests because the results were not favourable. It seems to me that VW need lessons in morality.

I totally agree. Its been going on for years. Look at the Lockheed sales technique from the sixties. F104 into Europe as an example.

and manners swmboJnr has been talking about getting a new car so I thought while June was shopping I would nip in an Ivory tower VW garage and take a look at a few . I had bothered an idiot at his desk to busy making himself comfy to answer a few questions and going to tell me what he tells all the new starters . He did not smile or say "can I be of any help". I gave him some time and he did not change . So I fired back and walked out. swmbo has an open mind and spoke of the Renault Captor! and a Kia.

In my opinion Diesels are for trucks and vans. This country has been duped over the years to buy cars fitted with oil burners. Sorry rant over.😉

I too feel conned. I always viewed Diesels as dirty, especially smuts, but got swayed by the tax benefits/ fuel economy. I do like the power of the Diesel but I am undecided petrol vs Diesel when I come to change the family car next year.
Last year I bought a new little VW turbo petrol for running about in and very happy with the performance. Strangely it is my go to car.

I chose diesel in 2001 not especially because of government incentives, although cheaper road tax is always welcome. What drew me to the 2.0-litre TDI Golf was the oceans of smooth torque from low revs along with 50mpg, At low revs it feels as good as a petrol V8. We won't have another diesel now, but the modern diesels in cars are still very impressive.

It’s the diesel knock which I find irritating even in top models. (Like having Buddy Rich under the bonnet)
