Hello everybody,
I bought a used 4/4 70th Anniversary with disc wheel. The former owner changed the spare wheel's fitting to fit a luggage rack (longer wing nut and spacer)and the original fitting get lost. So I can't drive without the luggage rack and instead the hub cap on the spare wheel. Could anyone send me a photo of the original fitting or the part numbers of the original wing nut (?) and spacer?

Kind regards,

Christian

Gday,
not quiet sure what you actually mean mate!
you can drive with luggage rack and spare wheel in place? OR
the hub cap needs to be removed so you can secure luggage rack?
OR what????? stars

He has steel wheels with hub caps. With just the spare wheel fitted, the wheel is held in place by a threaded rod and a circular washer which engage in the central hole of the wheel, with the hub cap fitted over it. To mount a luggage rack, the hub cap would have to be left off, and a different threaded rod with a T-bar welded to it (mine is s/s), plus a circular washer (on mine this is alu). The centre of the wheel is one of the three points of fixing for the rack.

So I would guess he would need a threaded rod of the correct length with a nut or small T-bar welded to the end, and a shaped circular washer to fit in the central hole, and it is this setup that has been lost.

It should be quite easy to make one, or I would guess that John Worral at Heart of England could probably supply or make one in s/s.

That 's correct. If have only the spacer to fit a luggage rack (for wire wheels) to my spare wheel (disc wheel). This is long spacer and a long wing nut. I am interested to see what the factory specification was. The 4/4 was delivered without a luggage rack and the hub cap on the spare wheel. If have never seen some where else what was under the hub cap and the original part were lost.

What I described should do it - I think the thread is something like M10 - so, cut a length of threaded rod to length so that about 1 inch protrudes beyond the wheel, get a piece of steel or aluminium sheet bigger than the hole in the wheel, drill a hole of say 11mm, and then use an M10 nut to clamp the arrangement down. A nice machined aluminium billet spacer would be better but the whole thing will be covered by the hub cap anyway.

Unless the fitting is different for the disc spare wheel (e.g. using a couple of the stud holes). You could check with the factory.
