ANyone else had this?

My handbrake light (saying that the handbrake is applied) is permanently lit. The handbrake is however not applied.

No amount of fiddling with the handbrake seems to sort things out.

Sure it's a simple fix so loath to take to a dealer for just this - anyone know where I should be looking for a sensor / switch etc?

The left rear indicator is not working either - don't think it's related and I can fix this myself (contacts work loose) - could it be related?

2008 S4.

If the switch is like the trad, it's a courtesy light switch with a white plastic body fixed on a bracket next to the handbrake lever. 'Handbrake on' releases the switch and contact is made - the lamp lights. 'Handbrake off' and the lever presses the switch open - lamp off. It sounds like the switch has stuck, or the bracket has moved so the lever fails to make contact when off. On the Trad it can be accessed from below via the transmission tunnel. But it's tight.

Maybe the handbrake light also indicates brake pad wear or low brake fluid? On some cars it does....

This probably won't be of much help but this has happened to me: The handbrake applied light came on mid journey which had me checking all sorts of possible causes. I was miles from anywhere useful (depths of France) so having established that the handbrake wasn't on and that the brakes were otherwise working normally I ignored it. The "fault" had disappeared the following morning never to return. That said I've had a number of similar transient faults like the passenger window not completely closing when I closed the door - the door microswitch seemed to be dead but returned to life the following day.
All part of Aero 8 ownership I guess unless anyone knows any diferent! idea
