Can anyone tell me where the Salisbury axle as fitted to a 72/73 plus 8 would have come from? Is it the same as fitted to the MGB GTV8?

Also, did the chassis change dimensions between 73 and say the late 80's? I know the wings got wider, but what about the chassis and body tub?

Thanks
Mike

It's likely that the axle was shared with MG. There were different ratios.
MGB -3.9:1
MGC - 3.7:1, 3.3:1, 3.07:1 <depending on whether auto or with overdrive.
MGBV8 - 3.07:1
Early Plus8's had quite a low ratio - it may have been 3.9:1, which is why they were so quick to 60mph, but at some stage the ration must have been altered - the 3.9 doesn't suit the Rover V8 characteristics very well.
