It is easy to make assumptions, but some of the upgrades are remarkable.
One lad had a Mk. 1 Astra with a 2.5 litre turbo charged Vauxhall V6 engine fitted.
The engineering of the whole car was superb and it was finished to concours standard.

OK; not to my taste, but the lad was a real enthusiast.

I remember having a fast 3 series BMW and pulling up at some lights years ago and an old Ford Anglia with a couple of young chaps pulled along side me.... they looked my way and revved their old Anglia. 'Like taking candy from a baby' I thought. Wrong. They shot off and left me for dust. I laughed my head off - no idea what they'd done to it - but it worked.

I think pride of ownership is a great thing - so I'm only mildly poking fun at the 'go faster' orange car.

That aside, I think the aesthetics of the swish looking Jaguar would be spoilt by Le Mans stripes.

Beautiful looking car the F-Type. One pulled up alongside me when I was out in the Morgan the other day - both had our hoods down so had a chat. Don’t spoil it with stripes!

I agree.. it works on some, particularly if they have a racing pedigree, but the F Type has limited race exposure. But it could work..this is interesting and shows how stripes work on the body...

So white on dark blue, in a similar style would look good.

The lad with the Astra reckoned it would do 0-60 in just under 7 seconds!
I wish my Mini had been even remotely that quick, when I was 17!’

Agree with you on the Jaguar though.

When somewhat younger, and working in a Vauxhall garage, we part timers used to be delegated to upgrade the HB Viva with the Jack Brabham kit.

A key part of the upgrade was adding the stripes, not sure how many mph they added, but it was difficult to get them aligned correctly.

it only depend of what result you are looking for: Racing , Elegance, Noticed , show time ... this is the point for start, everytime we revamp a things the first question is what is the looking we want to achieve.

Howard, just NO. You expect it on the GT because of the track first heritage. On the Jag it looks like you may be trying too hard. You may as well get a sunblind across the top of the windscreen saying Boyce and Marleen and a set of furry dice wink

If you want something to provide a little edge ?
Get the suspension lowered.
Remove the mid/back boxes and replace with 3" straight through.
Maybe a set of subtle alloys that are after market.
Get some of the chrome made black coat

Make it a slightly more wicked but stock looking.

(however this is only my taste and each to their own!)
