Does the engine cut out altogether or just stutter?
Possibility issue of fuel starvation. Try changing the air filter and the fuel filter canister. These two items might have been missed at service interval. Air flow sensor could be another culprit.

Check all the fuses as there may be a hairline crack.
And check the electrical connections especially around the fly by wire system.

If all else fails, send it back to the factory or ask BHM, which is probably closer.

I cannot offer any helpful advice but, as a Plus 4 GDI owner, I'd be very interested to learn what the fault was when you find out. Mine refused to start once after being laid up for a few weeks. Everything was checked by the local dealer's engineer with his laptop software and nothing amiss. Then, finally, it spluttered into life. We never did find out what the problem was and, mercifully, it has not recurred.

Agreed - It sounds electrical.
Also worth checking are the battery terminals and the engine earthing cable. Also try removing dashboard (easy removal by just lowering steering wheel and unscrewing the three screws holding it in place); then detach as many connectors as you can and spray with electrical cleaner before re-connecting.

There is an earth under the dash on the passenger side. It is bolted to the bottom of the heater. As Morgan put sealant between the heater & the bulkhead it can be an issue. Also on mine the nut was loose.

As an aside, I was talking to Richard Thorne at the London Classic Car Show and he told me that the GDI engine is now only used in one S American country ( can't remember which ) but that doesn't bode well for maintenance in the coming years.
I was always under the impression that it was a main stream Ford engine but it seems not.
Do we sell now and buy some alternative ( don't ask me what ) or do we enjoy whilst we can and await the axe of doom when we will all be driving electric buggies.

The simple answer is to replace it with a 2.5L Duratec when all else fails. Not a cheap option but one solution!

As you say Dave, simple but a tad expensive! I wonder what Morgan will replace the GDI with?
