Our Biolgy teacher had a Messerschmitt three wheeler it was fantastic and I would just stand and stare at it - cream with red leather.

Our Maths teacher had a Ford Pilot - a beast.

With a little skill, time and money this should be feasible for everyone. Provided you have a pilot's license.
Nevertheless fascinating!

Yes anyone with a modicum of skill and lots of patience can do it. My Jodel was built from plans in 1964 by a licensed aircraft engineer but many amateurs built them as well. The Kitox was built from a kit by me and a mate. I restored the Auster (under supervision) and I am really an amateur i.e. no technical training. From the video I think that Czech builder is quite exceptional.

I too was fascinated by the radial engine. I noted the 3 cylinder radial in the monoplane at the end of the clip and searched for "3 cylinder radial" on the net and found Verner by the photo.

Lots of interesting stuff and photos at the official web site: http://www.vernermotor.com/
