Does any one know where I can get an exhaust manifold heat shield for my silver top 1800 zetec? I’m sure I must be looking straight at it on the internet but can see any. I even tried a Ford dealer, not much help there. Any pointer as to where I might find one would be much appreciated!

What about this solution?

DIY job and possibly a bit fiddly, but that's part of the fun, isn't it?

Thanks Robbie, that does look good! I’ve still got the original exhaust down to the cat. Maybe this is a good reason (excuse) to replace it with a stainless one! It would be much easier to rap before fitting.

Would that be worth it? A wrap could induce corrosion underneath it , true - but that could be solved with painting the manifold with heat resistant anti-corrosive paint (containing zinc as far as I know). But then, what are you trying to achieve? For reducing the over all under-bonnet-temprature it should be good, but if you are trying to protect specific components (for instance the brake master cylinder) it might be easier to shield that component with some reflective metal. Concerning the under-bonnet-temperature, would reducing it improve performance? Well, it might a tad. Would you notice? Most likely not. Is it fun? Definately yes, and of course you know the difference between boys and men. As for how to wrap, there are plenty of movies on youtube.

Not sure it needs a heat shield in the Morgan installation.

I've been running mine without, with a Librands exhaust system, for some time now with no problems.

IMHO it looks a lot nicer without it.

Edit--- This might be bad advice because I've also moved the air intake over to the other side so I've got no air intake pipe and filter to cook.

Thanks Bob. I was looking to replace like for like (well hopefully not so rusty). If you’ve had no issues without the shield I will not worry about it.

I’m considering a SS manifold. Are you pleased with the Librands exhaust?

I've been very happy with the Librands Exhaust, it was a very easy fit, looks great and the sound is much nicer.

I'm pretty sure there was a significant power and torque gain as well but it's difficult to be certain as I changed the ECU as well and when you make two changes at the same time it's difficult to know what the individual effect is.

A word of Caution.

As I said in my Edit, I'm not sure leaving the heat shield off in your set up is a good idea because I also moved the air intake to the other side away from the exhaust. If your installation is standard then you have the intake hose running right over the top of the exhaust which will heat up the intake air and possibly also cook the hose.
